The purpose of this application is to help the user find the appropriate office or the responsible person within the building. In addition, the robot can offer further useful information if required by the user. Originally developed and tested Biedenkopf in the premises of the Sparkasse Marburg-Biedenkopf (as part of the cooperation between the Philipps-Universität Marburg and the Sparkasse Marburg-Biedenkopf), the application will be adapted to the premises of the university and help students to orient themselves on the campus.
After selecting the Floor Manager, the robot presents buttons for the various departments or those locations of the branch that are frequented particularly often. Due
to increased demands at information and service points concerning the location of the cash register, another one was implemented for this purpose. The preselection thus amounts to six options:
• Advisory Center
• Cash register
• Business Customer Center or Commercial Customer Center
• Sparkasse Insurance
• Wealth management
• Private Banking
With the exception of the advisory center, all options show a map of the respective area or floor when selected. On the respective map, a red marker indicates the destination and a green marker indicates the current location. Additionally, there is an overlay with further information. At the same time, the robot explains the route verbally and gives hand gestures for rooms to the right or left. When selecting the advisory center, a card opens on the right side of the tablet, showing the available consultants. By voice or touch input a consultant can now be selected. The explanation is the same as for all the other cases. The overlay also includes the name of the consultant.
In addition, there is always the possibility to use the map interactively. You only need to press the highlighted areas on the map. This will open a marker with information. Additional orientation points such as the entrance, the self-service area, the information point and the cash register were marked on the map of the advisory center.
Since new employees are constantly added or existing ones change their office, a rapid change of the room occupancy plan must be guaranteed. A database and a graphical user interface (GUI), with both a room plan and the corresponding room - consultant pairs, make this possible. After adjusting the names and the subsequent saving process, the choregraphe project only needs to be reloaded onto the robot to access the updated room layout in the robotic application.
